Cut Diamonds

Cut Diamonds

A very delicate operation for the diamond before being sold, it is its cutting according to its natural shape. Here are five steps of this process :

  1. The cleavage consists of splitting the stone in two parts with a steel blade. It is amazing that we can split this “hardest” stone, but there is a technique that makes it possible if you know some weak points.
  2. Sawing allows the diamond to be shaped to obtain the best size for sale.
  3. The shape of the final outline of each gem before cutting the facets is created next in a process called bruting or girdling.
  4. Blocking is the following step for making a diamond that requires the most dexterity and experience for facets creation. The standard is 58 facets cut according to a mathematical arrangement of angles to produce excellent finish.
  5. Brilliance is the last touch that consists of polishing of each facet of the diamond.
