Rough Diamonds

Rough Diamonds

Types of diamonds. Once sorted, the diamonds are separated according to their gem quality, that means that they can be cut and sold for jewellery purposes or, otherwise, they are intended for industrial use. It is important to say that 80% of diamonds are of industrial quality. The main criteria for sorting are: diamond size, color, perfection and quality of cut. The most common forms are cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, rhombododecahedron and trioctahedron if you’ve forgotten your geometry classes.

“Fancy colors” stones are very popular with buyers. These rare specimens come in every color of the spectrum, including, most importantly, blue, green, pink, yellow and red. Moreover, the natural color of the diamond is often between bluish white and yellowish according to the diamond color grades range from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown).
